CATCA 2023 has ended

CATCA recognizes that convention is situated on Treaty 7, South of Red Deer River, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina, and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the North of Red Deer River Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree, and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land.

Your actions matter. You make a huge impact. Your role in education is similar to a gardener. You plant seeds, water them and often don’t get to see them flourish. Sometimes it takes 15 years before a student reaches out to tell you how much of an impact you had on them. Sam is the 23-year-old example of one of your future students. Sam’s teacher, Michael Loudfoot, changed his life. He believed in Sam when Sam stopped believing in himself. Every day, you have the same opportunity with your students. Through this keynote, Sam shares what Mr. Loudfoot did that made him buy into his lessons and leadership. You and your colleagues will leave this session filled with hope and optimism, remembering exactly why you started teaching.
