The University of Florida Institute (UFLI - pronounced you-fly) is a collaborative effort by teachers and teaching faculty to improve the reading abilities of students. Their program, which was designed to target K-2 (and beyond) students decoding and encoding abilities, provides systematic and explicit instruction in reading. Following a research-based scope and sequence, the lessons incorporate phonemic awareness, phonics, word work, reading, and spelling. This session will provide information on the basis of the program and how to implement it in both a classroom and intervention setting.
