CATCA 2023 has ended

CATCA recognizes that convention is situated on Treaty 7, South of Red Deer River, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina, and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the North of Red Deer River Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree, and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land.

We are in the middle of a transportation transformation. The electrification of transportation represents a huge revolution in more than just how we move things. How society views transportation, energy and efficiency will be permanently changed in the next decade. The changes that exist as society pursues electric cars represent a socio-scientific issue that is fertile ground for education. There are many subject-specific connections like energy, efficiency, battery chemistry, and motion that will be discussed, but Ian will also explore how electric vehicles can be used to explore aspects of the nature of science like data gathering, evidence, skepticism, and complexity.
