I have been teaching Food Studies for about 15 years and I am constantly revising, changing and trying new things. I feel very fortunate to be teaching such a dynamic course but I still sometimes find it hard to balance hands-on-learning with meeting all the curriculum objectives and effectively assess them. I know that many teachers in CTS, Fine Arts and other areas face similar dilemmas. How do you "teach" your classes? Today I would like to share some of my journey as a Food Studies teacher and as a CTS department head and I would love to dialogue with others as we take an opportunity to cook a few of my favourite dishes that I have done with my students over the years and have a few of them share their perceptions of alternative learning in classrooms. Come prepared to participate!
